Shane Clanton Eyes Another World of Outlaws Late Model Title in 2023 | World of Outlaws

Shane Clanton, the 2015 World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series champion, is back.

The Zebulon, GA driver will run the full 2023 schedule with Skyline Motorsports, marking his 16th full-time season with the Series.

“Last year at the end of the year there we started hitting our stride and hopefully it just carries over into this year,” Clanton said. “It’s going to be a grueling season, hopefully we’re up to the task.”

Clanton split the World of Outlaws championship season with teammate Tyler Bruening in 2022, missing a quarter of the season. In his 33 starts last year, he claimed two victories, 11 top-five finishes and 21 top 10s. He ended the year with a stretch of six top-10 finishes in a row, including two runner-up finishes during the season-ending World of Outlaws World Finals.

Overall, the “Georgia Bulldog” has made 641 starts with the Series and claimed 48 victories – currently sitting fourth on the all-time wins list.

While there are several tracks on the 53-race schedule he and the team look forward to, Senioa Raceway, on Oct. 14, is one he’ll have a big circle around as the Billy Clanton Classic is named after his late father.

No matter the track, Clanton knows there will nothing easy this season as he is one of 19 stout competitors on the World of Outlaws tour.

“It’s probably going to be the premier Series with as many good folks there are that have come over to run, trying to make all this money,” Clanton said. “Hopefully we’re on top.”

Clanton will start his 2023 venture with the World of Outlaws at Volusia Speedway Park for the DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals, Jan. 18-21. He’s yet to win during Sunshine Nationals but has five World of Outlaws victories at Volusia Speedway Park and won the DIRTcar Nationals Big Gator Championship there twice – in 2015 and 2017.
